Business association takes first steps
The Fiordland business community has appointed a ‘‘transitional business association committee’’ to set up a new Fiordland Business Association.
The idea was raised in December, and Southland District deputy mayor and Te Anau resident Ebel Kremer said at least 60 business had already shown their support.
Formal procedures, such as drawing up a constitution and registering as an incorporated society, would take time, but the transitional team would ‘‘get going’’ while that work was being done by assessing the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and developing strategies for recovery.
Kremer hoped a more permanent committee would be appointed in March and stressed that it would represent a cross-section of businesses and industries in the greater Fiordland area.
