BA5 – Hawthorndale Care Village

The Hawthorndale Care Village is a $33m ground-breaking aged care village for Invercargill, a residential aged care with a real difference based on the world leading Dutch model. The design of the village, the philosophy and the way its residents are cared for is centred around evidence that suggests familiarity, comfort and stimulation has the greatest impact on overall health and well-being.

With no cure in sight, it is projected that the number of those living with dementia is expected to triple in the next 30 years. The Village will allow the elderly to live in smaller scale living, including those with dementia, to not just exist but thrive on a lifestyle that is as normal as possible.
