Working Smart – Not Harder


There is only so much time in your working day. No one can control time – after all there are only 24 hours in a day, but we can improve our productivity through effective use of our time. How do we work smarter and not harder?

Programme objective
This course will provide people with a range of tools and techniques to better manage their time and workload organisation.

Designed for
Business owners, managers, supervisors/team leaders or those in roles where it seems impossible to get the job done in the time you have to achieve it. It will also benefit people who need to become more organised and in control of their work.

  • Appreciate your communication style through being more self-aware
  • Develop a “Time Log” and identify your own areas of improvement
  • Create a “To do list” which is achievable and productive
  • Distinguish between productive and non-productive work
  • Conquer procrastination and make effective decisions
  • Learn the art and importance of delegation
  • Learn efficient telephone skills
  • Develop smart email management skills
  • Get the most from meetings
  • Learn to handle interruptions – good and bad – and how to say No
  • Recognise common time wasting activities
  • Mange conflict through confident assertiveness.

The programme is highly participatory and practical. Participants will be shown the various processes, tools and techniques.

Your facilitator – Richard Millar 
Richard is an experienced trainer and consultant. His areas of expertise include leadership development, front line management development, team development, executive and personal development coaching, strategic/business planning and accounting for non-accountants training.

Richard has worked in a wide variety of organisations from small to large organisations in New Zealand, Australia and Papua New Guinea.

Richard’s depth of business knowledge and skills in sales, marketing, finance and general management coupled with a very practical approach to training and facilitation has provided excellent value to a large number of organisations.

Richard is a member of the New Zealand Society of Accountants and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries & Administrators. He is an accredited DISC® consultant in behavioural profiling and a registered practitioner in MBTI®. He is a Fellow of the NZ Institute of Management and is qualified in Moderation and Workplace Assessment with NZQA. He holds the National Certificate in Adult Education and Training.
 
He provides community support as a Justice of the Peace for New Zealand. He is also an approved mentor for Business Mentors New Zealand and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
