The Southland Youth Leadership Academy (SYLA) is a pilot programme designed to cultivate leadership and governance skills in youth, preparing them for success in their personal and professional lives. Based on the Southland Leadership Academy, this pilot programme aims to provide young people with inspiring presenters, leaders and experiences.

The key focus of this programme is to develop:

Business leadership
Governance skills
Business world readiness
Building business knowledge and connections
Awareness of self.

Based on feedback from research participants the pilot programme will be:

Interactive
Engaging
Relevant to the lives and interests of rangatahi
Focussed on empowering young leaders to make a positive impacts in their communities and the business world.

The programme sessions will be reflected on and co-designed with rangatahi.

Dates
Six weeks. – Friday mornings, 9am – 12pm
9 August – 13 September
Graduation Celebration – 13 September

Participants
Selected by Schools, Alternative Education Providers and Businesses.
Limited to a maximum of 12 participants (maximum of two participants from the same school/organisation).
