Supporting and Promoting Alcohol Harm Reduction and Sun Safety in the Workplace
The WorkWell Team invites you to our free Summer Essentials Webinar ‘Supporting and Promoting Alcohol Harm Reduction and Sun Safety in the Workplace’. The webinar will run live on Tuesday 21 October from 9am – 10:30am via MS Teams.
A workplace can have a significant influence on a person’s health and wellbeing, including areas such as alcohol use and sun exposure. Therefore, workplaces are in a unique position to implement strategies that both reduce alcohol-related harm and promote sun safety, helping staff make healthier choices and stay protected. By doing so, they are creating a supportive and proactive culture, with the likely benefits including reduced health risks, fewer safety incidents, improved staff morale, and stronger overall wellbeing.
This webinar will be facilitated by the National Public Health Service (NPHS) and will include presentations from keynote speakers from Health New Zealand, Alcohol Harm Prevention, the Cancer Society New Zealand, and Fulton Hogan, Bay of Plenty.
What is included in the webinar?
- Mark Lyne, Principal Advisor Alcohol from Health New Zealand will discuss how alcohol use affects workplaces and share practical ways to respond to alcohol-related issues. He will also outline workplace responsibilities and where to access resources for further guidance.
- Amanda Dodd, Advocacy and Public Affairs Lead from the Cancer Society New Zealand will explain skin cancer prevention, including the importance of SunSmart behaviours and workplace responsibilities.
- Alicia Tomchuk, Fulton Hogan Bay of Plenty will share examples of the alcohol harm reduction and sun safety initiatives they have implemented in their workplace.
This webinar is intended for business owners, managers, wellbeing leads, health and safety representatives and staff members with a passion for wellbeing in the workplace.
