History made with entrepreneurial talent’s second straight win

The YES program in the Southern regions, which spans Southland, Queenstown, and Wanaka, has provided a platform for students to explore the world of business.

The YES (Young Enterprise Scheme) Regional Finals, held on October 22 at SIT CentreStage Theatre, showcased the impressive entrepreneurial talent from across the southern regions.

With 160 students, 51 teams, and 10 schools competing in the programme this year, the event highlighted the innovation, resilience, and business acumen of the region’s young entrepreneurs.

Caleb Diprose and Treet Yourself Make History

Caleb Diprose and his team, Treet Yourself Contracting, made history as they swept multiple awards and became the first team to win the Southland Regional Finals for two consecutive years.

Their accolades include:

  • Community Trust South Award for YES Entrepreneur 2024 – Caleb Diprose
  • Findex Award for Financial Excellence – Treet Yourself Contracting
  • NZAS Award for Sales and Marketing – Treet Yourself Contracting
  • SIT Southland Company of the Year 2024 – Treet Yourself Contracting

The achievements of Treet Yourself Contracting reflect their dedication and ability to excel in the competitive YES environment, solidifying their place as Southland’s leading young enterprise.

They will now represent Southland at the YES National Awards on 5 December in Wellington, where they will pitch against 23 other regions for national recognition.

The event also recognised other outstanding teams for their contributions to different areas of business.

The winners of the Excellence Awards include:
