BDO Biz Bite – ACC for Business
Our August BDO Biz Bite with Garth Butson from ACC gave local businesses a clearer understanding of how ACC works and the support available when workplace injuries occur.
Garth shared the history of ACC, which began in 1974 following the work of Sir Owen Woodhouse, and highlighted that the greatest number of injuries happen in the home and community, with falls topping the list.
The session also explored the wider impact injuries can have on businesses. In 2025, an estimated 20.8 million working days were lost to injury. Attendees left with practical guidance on employer responsibilities, recovery support, levies, and helping employees return to work safely.
