Export Southland Recognition Awards

The Export Southland Recognition Awards Dinner was held Friday 9th September to recognise the value of export activity within the Southland economy and celebrate the role businesses and passionate individuals make to our region’s economic wellbeing.

Acting Chair of Export Southland, Nigel Gear said, “The dinner is an excellent opportunity for exporters and supporters to come together and celebrate a vibrant export sector. It was great to have Southland’s contribution to the national economy recognised by Hon Simon Bridges who presented the recognition awards last night and other dignitaries including Mr Zhang Fan, Economic & Commercial Counsellor from the Embassy of The People’s Republic of China in NZ.”

Joint principal sponsors HSBC and Air NZ Cargo along with a number of other key sponsors and supporters contributed to making the evening a successful event in the regional business calendar. The dinner featured a menu of export quality Southland produce, with the very talented duo of D&M – Dan Monteath and Michelle Lange providing entertainment throughout the evening.

The Export Southland Committee introduced a new Innovation in Export Recognition Award for 2016 which attracted a high level of nominations.

The winner of this award will illustrate how innovative strategies and practices have contributed to exporting success and applicants will be asked to describe how their enterprise has invested in developing innovative thinking, products, services, initiatives, processes, or a business model that have been integral to the enterprise’s success or establishment.
