Stories on Mentally Healthy Work in Retail
WorkSafe’s Case Studies
Negative workplace interactions or environments can impact a worker’s mental health and wellbeing. This is called psychosocial risk. Under the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015, New Zealand businesses are required to identify psychosocial hazards and take steps to eliminate or mitigate risks as much as reasonably practicable.
WorkSafe joined with Kmart New Zealand and Z Energy to look at how businesses minimise psychosocial risks in their workplaces. In the short videos, you’ll hear from Kmart and Z Energy about the importance of good work design, leadership, clear communication and putting people first in all the work they do.
Although the videos contain interviews with the retail sector, many of the topics discussed are applicable to a range of sectors and occupations.
